» Destroy This Place shows how press releases can get it right | Music | Hear This | The A.V. Club
Great write up from the AV Club that hits on precisely why you should (or perhaps shouldn’t) like this band.
Let me supplement briefly with a few more things these gents have going for them.
Rock.
Guitars.
Big Drums (but not ‘80’s stupid big).
Guitars.
Riffs, intertwining, harmonized, double tracked and propulsive.
Guitars.
Ryan Allen’s challenge to real and imagined haters on ‘Werewolf Mask’— I do believe he actually WOULD love to ‘knock you out’.
Guitars.
The ‘Van Halen-ie’ flanger drums that kick off the album on ‘Leathal Sky’ (tip of the cap to the tasty verse guitar fill on this track as well).
Guitars.
Singing. Actual honest to god singing of songs that lesser accomplished folk would just scream and shout. There are dual leads. Backups. Harmonies. Good stuff. It’s what distinguishes this album from the few standard barer rockists like the everybody knows them Foo Fighters and the why doesn’t everybody know them Torche.
Guitars.
Overdrive. Distortion. Fuzz. The crispy, the thick, the feedback, the wooly, the shrieking.
And of course guitars.
-Destroy this Place plays tonight at PJs Lager House in Detroit and Saturday night at Quencher’s Saloon in Chicago.

Thing’s Money Can Buy is an irregular series of things available for sale on the internet.
Laurie’s Planet of Sound, a record store in Chicago, has an original Wesley Willis drawing up for sale on eBay.
Ability to whoop Batman’s ass not included.
Rock over London, Rock on Chicago. Wheaties. The Breakfast of Champions.

Hey Detroiters don’t forget to catch Destroy This Place’s record release show this Friday at the Lager House.
Said album is streaming in the post below or by clicking here.
Official DG review to follow shortly.
We revamped the lineup for the release show. All these bands are dope. Don’t show up late. Show up on time. Punk time sucks. Doors at 9 pm, Flint’s Braided Veins on at 9:30 sharp. So stoked for this!
