Brainstorm, what has wings besides ducks?
I will give the folks at Quack! this… they do not take a paint by numbers approach to their business.
Their latest business endeavor is Open Skate, which includes “partnerships with local hangouts, events, special group tickets, ambassadors, a clothing line, and video spots.”
The first Open Skate events are:
October 22nd Detroit v. Phoenix - The Loving Touch
Javelins
8PM Show
FREE
November 13th - The Magic Stick
The Ponys, The Paybacks, Juiceboxxx, Kommie Kilpatrick
$8.00
November 21st Detroit v. Montreal - The Elbow Room
Bands TBA
FREE
I don’t know if this will be a big success, but it’s hard for me to look at it too critically either.
The Red Wings ticket sales have to be down this year, so if this program makes some “well priced” seats available to the folks who show up at these events, that seeems like a good thing. Plus a local company gets to produce some licensed merchandise and gets access to the Red Wings sales channels to sell it, that too seems like something worth rooting for.
Finally, there are the free shows.
But wait, you say, I have to pay $8 to see the Magic Stick show.
I’m okay with that too, because it gives me the opportunity to purchase the third part of the Juiceboxx Dre Skull trilogy.
Trust me, parts one and two are amazing — even though they were a little conservative with the cover art on this one.
