Things Money Can Buy
Another entry in a continuing series of things available for sale on the internet.
Peep this shit yo… that’s Geddy Lee’s 4002 Rickenbacker bass… or a least one of them.
Rick basses are probably more identified with McCartney (who used one on many of the later albums and in the videos for Magical Mystery Tour) and of course bass-face-melter Lemmy. but Lee used Rick’s pretty extensively in Rush’s hey day of the late ‘70’s and ‘80’s.
It’s a 4002, which is more rare than say a 4004 and highly modified, which is to be expected from the proggy-metallic-bass-d with the high pitched voice. Even if it wasn’t his, it’s a really beautiful guitar with a checkerboard binding you should click through to see.
The seller claims to have obtained it from Rush’s keyboard tech… but honestly, even if Geddy Lee never touched it, it’s probably close to being worth the $4,895 the dude is asking for it.
Here’s a completely indulgent, 10 minute Rush song that is inexplicably shot in soft focus featuring Geddy on a black Rick the same year the bass for sale was made.
Our last female reader has likely passed out by now from the intense eye rolling that typically occurs when the fairer sex is exposed to the sausage fest that is RUSH!
