Well, no doubt because I opened my big mouth in defense of Blowout, two one of my favorite local bands (that also applied to play) are not on the this year’s lineup. Now, I understand that just because I like a band, everybody else doesn’t have to like them too… but I’m personally disappointed.  Not complaining, just disappointed. Both of them play out a lot, so you can definitely find another time to see them: The Prime Ministers Saturday, Feb. 20 at the Berkley Front With the Copper Thieves and Darling Imperial Who actually is in the Blowout lineup (note to fellow bitchers, check your facts or at least wait to publish them) Saturday, Feb. 6 at the Majestic Cafe with Blueflowers and Old Empire Also, Saturday, Feb. 12 at the Pike Room 52 Week High’s Release Party also with Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr, and Human Reunion What local band were you hoping to see this year that didn’t make the cut? editor’s note:  This post doesn’t really change my opinions on all the shit slinging at Blowout, it merely acknowleges that it’s a tough job to find these bands and nobody, would come up with the same lineup.  For example, if I ran Blowout, I’d sign up White Star as an actual “strip club” for the weekend, instead of a place that merely looks like a “strip club”.  I would also make the eastern Euro-Mafiaso that appears to frequent that place (and make me cross the street) by wrist bands, because that’s how Gorilla rolls.
